SMARTboard

The smart board was awesome!! If I dont have a SMARTboard in my classroom I am going to be very upset. Tuesday in class was the first time I have ever used a smart board before, I really didnt know what to expect. I honestly didnt think that it was going to be that hightech or cool at all, I thought it was just going to be a large white board that you could draw on with your computer. Boy was I wrong about that one. The smart board was amazing. At first when the guy was going over how to use it I thought to myself that I would never be able to use it in my classroom. Why did I think this? I am a special education major with a specialization in english, so I honestly thought there was nothing for me to do. As he went on and as I explored myself I learned otherwise. There was so many awesome programs that I could use one day and for all age groups! When teaching kids how to tell time or how to count money, I can use the smart board. Also I could use the program for practing handwriting and reading. I think that it really holds kids attention and that can be hard to do in a classroom sometime. If my students see that there is a fun way to learn and that we can use computers doing it then I think there love for school would go way up. I honestly think there are many many advantages to the SMARTboard, you can teach students so many different things and I think it would constantly grab their attention. You could teach a lecture or the students could get into groups and work with it by themselves. I dont think there are many disadvantages to the smart board, I think it can only enhance your teaching and make things more interesting. I cant wait to have my own classroom and teach on the SMARTboard.
