Google Docs

Love love LOVE google docs!!! I'm so glad that we went over google docs in this class. I had learned about them in CEP 416 but surprisingly we did not do very much with them and I kind of forgot about them. I have used google docs numerous times since them in other classes when we had to do group work. It made group work a thousand times easier and better!! It is so hard in college for groups to find time out of the class to meet and do work. I don't know if professors just don't know this, or simply do not care? But it is so difficult to meet with groups, especially when it's more than 2 people! Google docs allows students to work on one project together but separately and at separate times! It is so nice! I love how there's documents and presentations! And Google docs are sometime that everyone can see, you can share the docs and make sure others can edit and also share the docs for others to just view. I just google presentation for my TE 301 class (Lit Ref project). My partner and I could both work on it together at the same time together and at home separately and then we would share it with our teacher so she could view and grade it. Very helpful piece of technology and I will definitely use it in the future!! A good idea (Ira gave it to me) was having google docs and sharing them with other teachers in the school. If I had a google doc about a certain student, and other teachers could add things they noticed in class that day, behavioral problems, etc. It would cut a lot of time! Teachers and IEP teams wouldnt have to meet as much, they could just add it to the google doc for all the teachers who are involved to see!

  1. That's great that you've had a chance to use docs on projects. I haven't yet had a group project where everyone agreed to use google docs, but I hope it happens soon! Not only do they make it easier because you don't have to find time to meet, but you also don't have to waste time sending revised versions back and forth.
